One of the features of teletext TVs was to hide portions of content behind blank areas of the screen, which could then be displayed by pressing a button on the remote control. The reveal button came as standard on millions of TV remotes, and while it was consistently used by various teletext services over the years, it was with the arrival of Digitiser that its potential was fully realised. It wasn't long before the joy of reveal was unleashed, with reveal-o-jokes quickly becoming synonymous with Digi, and the instruction to 'press reveal' one of their most recognisable catchphrases.
No longer simply employed as a TV quiz device, when Digi let loose with a reveal-me-do you were suddenly and inexplicably transported into another dimension - specifically, the twisted recesses of Mr Biffo's psyche. A place where warped versions of swans and snakes roamed in blocky pixel form. Where Jarvis Cocker would 'sing' by 'flashing' his 'lips' at you. A place where strange beasts would cry the legend 'Moc-moc-a-moc!', and where TV characters and obscure celebrities ran amok in deformed glee.
Welcome, then, to Reveal-O-Show: a gallery of but a tiny fraction of the hidden delights that lurked behind the seemingly innocent teletext screens of Digitiser. It is now time to push your button. Barken!
