Rapid Reload - PlayStation

"Look, dad - it's the PlayStation doing an impression of a Konami platformer on the SNES. Do you love me, daddy?"

Yes, little one, that is indeed the case, though you see, it's no bad thing. Why? Because we love you!

Emulating the likes of platform shoot-oh-blasts like Gunstar Heroes and Sparkster may seem stupid, but it can't disguise the playability.

Rapid Reload is incredibly familiar territory - see those power-ups, grappling hooks, two selectable characters and big rotate-o-bosses?

The graphics don't particularly stretch the PlayStation, but the gameplay is so very smooth we just had to smile.

The graphical diversity and strength of gameplay show evidence that this isn't a stop-gap until the next 3D extravaganza comes along, but a product that's been lavished with hot love.
