Trophy Bass - PC, 16/1/96
"It's about time there was a good fishing game on CD-ROM." You may not be surprised to hear that this monstrously flawed statement emenates from the author of Successful Bass Fishing.
Having said that, Trophy Bass seemed such an obviously soft target for derision that we really wanted to try and avoid kicking it into a goods van.
But we can't, because it's so boring.
It probably isn't Trophy Bass's fault that playing it made our blood go grey.
If you like fishing, you probably think endlessly roaming a featureless overhead reed-bank with your cast-aim cross-hairs is even more stimulating than throwing batteries into a bonfire.
It all looks very slick - five huge lakes, umpteen stupid-coloured "spinners", on-line tips from "bass-dickers" - but no-one really explains the basics. Like how to smash a fish.
